DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nWorkshop One 9.30AM – 12.30PM \nPreparing to Plan \nPlanning is a critical element of the NDIS. Before you start the planning process\, it can be helpful to prepare so you don’t miss important things that could be included in your plan. In this workshop\, WAIS will explain what you could think about beforehand to prepare for the planning process. Being prepared can help you feel more confident that the plan will better provide what it is that you or your loved one wants or needs. \n  \nWorkshop Two 1.00PM – 4.00PM \nUnderstanding Self-Management \nIn the NDIS\, there are a range of ways you can manage your funding. This will include the benefits of self-management\, what is involved and what your responsibilities would be\, especially if you are wanting to hire your own workers. \nWhether it is the WA NDIS or national NDIS\, what you need to consider when (1) preparing to plan or (2) thinking through your legal and regulatory obligations if you choose to self-manage and hire your own workers\, are the same. \nWith the announcement that WA will move to the national NDIS\, we will take this opportunity to provide you with any information we have to hand at the time about the transition and rollout of the NDIS across WA. \nYOU CAN COME TO ONE OR BOTH WORKSHOPS \n  \nFuture sessions are planned in: \n  \nBroome\, Esperance\, Kalgoorlie\, Kununurra\, Melville\, Narrogin\, \nNewman and Wanneroo \n  \nThese workshops are being presented by WAiS (WA’s Individualised \nServices) and have been supported by the Department of Communities. \nDisability Services (formerly Disability Services Commission) with \nInformation\, Linkages and Capacity Building grants. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nCOST:  Free (Morning or Afternoon tea provided. SUMMARY:Shared Management Forums: Facilitated by Leighton Jay and Leanne Pearman
DESCRIPTION:Forum 1: For individuals and families who are currently using a shared management arrangement \n9.30AM TO 12.30PM   BOULEVARD CENTRE \nWhy do we want you to attend? \nWA’s Individualised Services is currently developing shared management resources for service providers and we would like your input.  We want your input so that service providers can improve their services in ways that maximise individuals’ control over their lives and services.  The resources will also enable more service providers to offer shared management.  So we want to hear directly from you about your experiences of shared management\, including things like:  What has been good?  Not so good?  What do service providers need to know about what individuals mostly want from shared management?  Your input will also contribute to the NDIS being the best NDIS we can create together. \nThis is a great chance to meet other people who are using shared management\, to share stories and to compare experiences.  PLUS – we promise you a great morning tea and our very sincere gratitude. \nForum 2: For service providers currently offering shared management or for those considering doing so \n1.30PM TO 4.30PM   BOULEVARD CENTRE \n Why do we want you to attend? \nWA’s Individualised Services is currently developing shared management resources for service providers and we need your input.  If you currently provide shared management we want to hear about what works well\, what issues you’ve encountered\, what solutions you’ve developed and what you’ve tried that hasn’t worked.  We’re also curious to know what you think other organisations wanting to offer shared management need to know and think about based on your experience.  If your organisation is thinking about offering shared management\, we want to know what you think are the main issues you need to know about. What resources do you think will be most useful to you?  This is also a great networking opportunity and a chance to contribute to making the NDIS the best it can be. \n
