Managing your supports with the national NDIS
There are different ways of managing the funded supports in your plan.
You are able to choose three different ways for you or your Nominee to manage your NDIS plan with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). You can choose one or a combination of these management options for different parts of your plan. Your three options are:
Self Management
Plan Management
Managing your supports in WA NDIS or with State Disability Funding
There are different ways of managing the funded supports in your plan.
In WA, with WA NDIS or with State disability funding, you can choose to manage the supports yourself, or ask your representative to do it on your behalf, you can choose a service provider, or you can choose a combination of these.
Self Management

This is when the funding, allocated to the person as per their plan, goes direct from the funder to the person or nominee. The person then manages all aspects of the funding, and chooses a provider/s and/or engages their own workers
If you choose to self-manage any part of your NDIS in WA plan, you will be responsible for:
- choosing and arranging your own supports, which may also include arranging and engaging your own support workers
- ensuring that the relevant invoices for your supports are paid on time
- keeping appropriate records and receipts for supports provided, claimed and paid
- reporting to the funder on the amount used and funds spent on the self-managed items of your NDIS in WA Plan.
Service Provider Management

This is when the funding allocated to the person as per their plan, goes from the funder to the provider. The provider manages all aspects of the funding, however with good support, they do this in partnership with the person. The organisation employs the staff on behalf of the person.
Shared Management (an option under Provider Managed)

This is an option to discuss with your provider. This is when the funding allocated to the person as per their plan, goes from the funder to the provider, and then the provider partners with the person to manage the funding. The person employs their own staff.
