SUMMARY:Quality Support: What does it look like?
DESCRIPTION:This forum is for people\, their carers\, families\, workers and service providers to talk about what good quality support looks like and how to improve the quality of this support. \nThis is part of the NDIS Workforce Capability Framework Project. For more information on the project click here. \nWe want to hear about your experiences with support workers the great\, the good\, the bad and the ugly. These can be positive experiences and highlight strengths\, or they may be challenging times where improvements could be made. \nThis project is an initiative of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission\, funded by the Department of Social Services through the NDIS Jobs and Market Fund

SUMMARY:Sexuality and people with an intellectual disability with Lud Allen
DESCRIPTION:WAiS are hosting Lud Allen for a series of workshops\, the first being on Monday the 14th of October and it is Sexuality and people with an intellectual disability. \nLud Allen has a Masters in Health Sciences (Sexual Health) with a specialty in sexuality counselling. He is a member of the World Association of Sexual Health and the Society of Australian Sexologists. Lud has a specific interest in working with people with an intellectual disability and problematic sexualised behaviours. He is a sought-after specialist in sexual health working in tandem with many organisations locally\, interstate and overseas as a practitioner and educator. \nThis workshop is for anyone who is interested in providing positive support to people with an intellectual disability about sex\, sexuality and relationships. This includes\, family members\, carers\, support workers\, co-ordinators etc. \nIt will explore the meanings that you give to sexuality and specifically the meaning you give to sexual education for people you support. You will identify barriers that exist for people being able to have their sexual health and relationship education needs met. \nYou will use and critique resources specifically made for sexual health education of people with an intellectual disability and explore the benefits of 1:1 education vs small group education and hear how this has been applied successfully in real life scenarios. \nDuring this workshop on occasion you will hear explicit language and see explicit imagery. \nThe workshop will run from 10am to 3pm and lunch will be included. It will be held at Bendat Community Centre (36 Dodd Street\, Wembley). \nTickets are $30 for people and families\, and $50 for providers. You can click here to purchase tickets. \nPlease note due to the nature of topics covered in this workshop there are only 20 spaces available.
