In the NDIS – Managing your supports – Easy Read

In the national NDIS, you can choose from 3 options:

• Self-management – you manage your funding and supports

• Plan Management – a Plan Manager gets your funding from the NDIS and pays your supports and services for you

• Agency management – the NDIS pays your service providers for you.

You can choose:

• 1 option
• a combination of these.

In the WA NDIS

There are different ways to manage the supports paid for in your NDIS plan.

In the WA NDIS, you can:

• self-manage – you manage your supports
• choose a service provider to manage your supports for you
• choose a combination of these.

Self-manage

When you self-manage, the funding in your plan is sent directly to:

• you
• someone you choose to help you manage it.

You:

• manage the funding
• choose your providers
• hire your own support workers.

If you choose to self-manage any part of your NDIS in WA plan, you will need to:

• choose and arrange your own supports and support workers

• make sure you pay the invoices for your supports on time

• keep good records and receipts of your supports

• show that your invoices have been:
  • given to you
  • claimed
  • paid

• report how you spent the money in your NDIS plan on self-managed items.

Managed by your service provider

When your NDIS plan is managed by a service provider, the funding goes straight to them.

Your service provider manages all the funding.

A good service provider will make sure you are included in deciding how to use your funding.

Your service provider hires the support workers who will work with you.

Shared management

Shared management is when the funding in your NDIS plan goes straight to your service provider.

Your service provider then helps you manage your funding.

You hire your own support workers.
