Citizenship – Easy Read

Easy Read mode is turned off.

If you have citizenship, you:

  • live by the laws and customs of the country where you live
  • have rights and duties in the country where you live.

These might include the right to:

  • live in the country
  • work
  • vote in elections
  • return to the country if you travel
  • own real estate – a home or land
  • be protected by the law
  • be protected by defence forces.

Citizenship is about more than just rights.

Citizenship is also about what people can offer:

  • each other
  • the community.
