As you are aware, WAiS is a grant funded, member-based organisation, and as such, relies on grant funding and membership fees for its sustainability. Our ability to rely on sufficient grant funding to maintain our viability has declined to the point where we are now unable to rely sustainably on grants anymore. Over the last number of years, WAiS has been exploring the opportunities to be sustainable through means other than grants, however these options such as becoming a service provider, are not aligned with WAiS purpose and values, and other options that have been explored are not viable alternatives for long term sustainability.
Therefore, with no other options available, it is with great sadness that the WAiS Committee, has made the decision to cease operations, pending due process, by the end of June 2023. WAiS intends to operate as usual until this time.
We will be informing all relevant parties, including WA State Minister for Disability Don Punch and Federal Minister for NDIS, Bill Shorten, the National Disability Insurance Agency, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, Department of Communities, people, families, and organisations we are connected with locally, nationally and internationally.
We will share more details with you as we move through this process and as decisions are made by WAiS Committee and members.
