Exploring Risk within a Human Rights Framework

People with a disability who require support, particularly when making decisions, may be at more at risk of being protected in a way that removes their rights as citizens.

There is increasing emphasis on risk management procedures to identify, prevent and respond to any adverse event experienced by the person with disability, the staff and the organisation. At times, these procedures reduce the quality of life and autonomy of the person.

The workshop will be exploring Risk within a Human Rights Framework, and showcasing a new resource developed by WAiS that deeply considers strategies to address risk, whilst keeping focused on the human and legal rights of the person.
