On December 1st 2020, the registration and regulation of NDIS service providers in WA will formally transition from the Department of Communities to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission in the final stage of the national rollout.

Disability sector organisations will need to align their organisational culture, policies and practices to meet the mandatory quality and safety compliance requirements under the NDIS Commission Quality & Safety Framework.

At no cost to eligible organisations, WAiS is available to provide innovative and tailored support to assist WA regional and remote disability service providers who are currently registered to deliver NDIS funded supports, to meet the NDIS Commission requirements and Practice Standards.

To complement this project, National Disability Services (NDS) are providing support to all disability sector organisations in metropolitan Perth and Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) are assisting psychosocial disability service providers across WA.

The support offered by WAiS, NDS and WAAMH is funded by the Department of Communities, Disability Services.

WAiS support may include:

  • A collaborative analysis of where your organisation is currently at and what is needed to align with the Quality and Safeguards requirements.
  • To co-design a capacity building program to ensure that the people you support are able to lead good lives in a quality service in a way which is aligned with the Quality & Safeguards practice standards, including workforce screening, complaints and incident management and the NDIS code of conduct.
